The Role of the Ministry of Youth Affairs in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

The Ministry of Youth Affairs is committed to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in alignment with the policies of the Kingdom of Bahrain to achieve these global objectives.
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being |
Design and Establish Youth Projects: Goal 3 is achieved through designing and establishing youth projects (youth centers) with globally recognized standards, ensuring all necessary facilities and amenities to provide a safe and healthy environment.

Goal 4: Quality Education |
Development of the Bahraini Scientific Center: |
Bader Program: The Bader program was launched to support innovative youth initiatives within and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. This program aims to ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed for sustainable development, including education for sustainable living, human rights, and gender equality. |
Youth City 2030: The Youth City 2030 program, in its 11th edition, is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in partnership with the strategic partner, Tamkeen. Youth City 2030 provides 2,400 training opportunities across various programs that prepare youth for the job market. |
Train the Trainer: This program prepares young Bahrainis, building skills in designing and delivering high-quality learning experiences. It equips participants with essential trainer qualities, managing training processes, and developing emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. |
Lamea Program: The Lame’ Program identifies, refines, and highlights youth talents, fostering partnerships with the private sector and government agencies to create youth opportunities. It supports Goal 4 by significantly increasing the number of youth and adults with appropriate skills, including technical and vocational skills, by 2030.

Goal 5: Gender Equality |
Gender Inclusion in Programs: The ministry promotes gender equality by ensuring equal participation in all programs and the inclusion of women in management positions, fostering equal opportunities. |
Women Leadership Program: A unique opportunity for women aged 15-18 to develop leadership and communication skills essential for global success. The program includes workshops with leadership experts from various sectors.

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy |
Development of the Bahraini Scientific Center: This project supports Goal 7 by installing a wind turbine and solar panels to generate electricity. |
Al-Sehla North Youth Enabling Center Project: The project includes solar-powered lighting for the playground and parking area.

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth |
Ghayah Project: An integrated system that takes a scientific approach to social innovation and social entrepreneurship, linking local innovators to global communities, and creating a safe space for social impact. The project supports Goal 8 by enhancing policies that promote productivity, decent work, entrepreneurship, and innovation. |
Research and Studies: The ministry conducted studies to measure youth optimism for the future, contributing to a global youth employment strategy and supporting the International Labour Organization's charter on job opportunities by 2020.

Youth Market: A youth market was organized to showcase youth commercial projects, fostering innovation, creativity, and a sense of responsibility and independence.

Monitoring Centers: The ministry supervises 45 youth centers and organizations, including annual general assemblies and approximately 180 management meetings, contributing to the SDGs.

King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve the SDGs: Launched as an initiative by Bahrain, this award encourages youth and public-private sectors worldwide to undertake initiatives supporting the SDGs. It aims to strengthen global partnerships to achieve sustainable development through shared knowledge, expertise, technology, and financial resources. |
Partnership with Other Entities: The ministry provides services and facilities to youth centers and organizations, coordinating with relevant official bodies and conducting field visits to address all their needs, thus contributing to the SDGs. |
