NIAD launches Fifth Phase of Forever Green in conjunction with Tree Week

The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) has launched the fifth phase of the Forever Green campaign, in conjunction with Tree Week, with the support of Bapco Energies.

The new phase was inaugurated by Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfeeqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD, and Basema Al Mahroos‏, Chief Executive of Bapco Tazweed, through a tree-planting activity at the Zallaq Youth Empowerment Centre.
Bapco Energies supported the planting of 597 saplings at the Zallaq Youth Empowerment Centre, Riffa 934 Complex, and around the Khalifa City Health Centre.
The initiative aims to expand green spaces in residential areas and public facilities, improve community wellbeing, and promote environmental awareness among youth.
Minister Tawfeeqi said the ministry’s participation reflects its efforts to raise youth awareness of environmental issues and instill values of sustainability and social responsibility. She commended the cooperation between the ministry, NIAD, and Bapco Energies in supporting national environmental projects.
She noted that greening youth centers links environmental work with youth empowerment, enabling young people to contribute directly to protecting the environment and enhancing quality of life.
Shaikha Maram bint Isa said the fifth phase builds on the campaign’s previous success and strengthens sustainability values across Bahraini society. She added that Forever Green has grown into a national environmental movement, praising Bapco Energies as a strategic partner.
The campaign coincides with Tree Week, which promotes the importance of trees in protecting the environment and encourages public participation in building a greener Bahrain.
Forever Green continues to expand across Bahrain’s governorates to increase plant diversity, combat climate change, and support sustainable development for future generations.
