Rawan bint Najeeb tawfeeqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, opened the "One Space Unites Us" event.  The event was organised by the ministry in cooperation with the Bahrain Space Agency and Nasser Centre for Science and Technology, with young people from Bahrain and other GCC countries taking part.

Marking Gulf Youth Day, Minister tawfeeqi said that young people are the real wealth of any nation and the foundation for its future.  She added that investing in their empowerment, especially in innovation, technology, and the space sector, is a strategic priority for building a bright future that matches the country’s ambitions.

She highlighted the importance of the event as a key step in supporting development in space sciences.  She said that the space sector has become a strategic focus for young people’s ambitions in science and technology, and for building a sustainable future.

She also noted that the participation of Gulf youth in the event reflects a strong belief in the importance of cooperation between GCC countries in space and youth empowerment, creating promising opportunities for innovation and joint development.

Minister tawfeeqi expressed pride in the abilities of Bahraini and Gulf youth, highlighting that their active participation in workshops and discussions is helping to shape new ideas and enhance joint Gulf work in space, science, and technology.

She added that "One Space Unites Us" aims to raise awareness among Gulf youth about the importance of space sciences and inspire them to explore opportunities in this sector, as well as encouraging scientific thinking among younger generations through interactive programmes.

On his part, Mohamed Al Othman, Advisor at the Bahrain Space Agency, said the event puts Gulf youth at the heart of discussions about the future of space in the region.  He highlighted that the agency provided in-depth scientific content and encouraged creative interaction among the participants, with discussions helping to generate practical ideas for Gulf cooperation.

He expressed pride in the ability of the youth to embrace these visions and develop well-considered proposals.  He noted that these proposals will be submitted through the final document to the relevant authorities, reflecting the Agency’s commitment to being a genuine enabling platform for young talent.

Aysha Al Haram, Chief of the Satellite Design Department at the Bahrain Space Agency, said the Agency is proud of its role in organising the event, which brought together young people from across the GCC for constructive scientific dialogue.  She added that the agency also organised specialist workshops on the importance and applications of satellites and career opportunities in this sector.

She said the Agency’s team led group sessions where participants discussed the role of Gulf youth in the future of space and technology, opportunities and challenges for Gulf cooperation, and start-ups in the Gulf space sector.  She noted that the participants came up with inspiring ideas, summarised in a final document titled "One Space Unites Us".

The event also included interactive activities to help explain scientific concepts in a fun and practical way.  Notably, the talented young Adam Ali gave an inspiring speech about his passion for space at the start of the programme, adding a special touch to the event.
