Youth Ministry, WHO explore ways to enhance joint cooperation
Shaikha Dina bint Rashed Al Khalifa, Planning and Development Advisor at the Ministry of Youth Affairs, received Dr. Asad Hafeez, Acting Representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the Kingdom of Bahrain, to discuss ways of enhancing joint cooperation in the sector of youth-oriented public health.
Shaikha Dina bint Rashed emphasised WHO’s role in supporting and developing health systems globally. She commended its efforts in promoting prevention and healthy lifestyles for youth, individuals and communities.
She highlighted the ministry’s interest in partnering with leading international bodies, including WHO, to implement health and awareness programmes and initiatives targeting the youth, in line with the Ministry's objectives to promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
The advisor added that promoting healthy lifestyles is one of the priorities of the National Strategy for Youth Empowerment, emphasising that the ministry is working to integrate health concepts into youth activities and initiatives in an innovative and effective manner.
Dr. Hafeez expressed WHO's pride in the growing partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, noting that the ministry's outstanding programmes and projects reflect its active commitment to public health and comprehensive youth development.
He pointed out that the organisation will continue to work with the ministry to launch joint health and awareness initiatives aimed at spreading a culture of prevention and promoting healthy lifestyles among young people, thus contributing to building a generation that is aware and able to contribute to its society in a healthy manner.
