NIAD launches tree-planting project at Hamad Town Model Youth Centre

The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) announced the launch of a tree-planting project at the Hamad Town Model Youth Centre, supported by Bahrain Credit, as part of its efforts to expand greenery in youth and community centres across the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The event was attended by Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfeeqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD, and Abdulla Bukhowa, CEO of Bahrain Credit.

Minister Tawfeeqi said that the Ministry of Youth Affairs prioritises the Forever Green initiative, recognising it as one of the leading national projects aligned with the ministry’s goal of raising environmental awareness among Bahraini youth. She commended the beneficial partnership between the ministry, the NIAD, and Bahrain Credit in supporting national efforts to promote a culture of afforestation and environmental sustainability.

The Youth Minister noted that the tree planting at the Hamad Town Model Youth Centre reflects the ministry’s role of empowering youth to contribute to achieving environmental sustainability objectives and raising their awareness of Bahrain’s leading role in this area. She emphasised that engaging young people in such initiatives enhances their sense of belonging and social responsibility and encourages them to be active partners in building a greener, more sustainable future for the Kingdom.

Bukhowa expressed pride in supporting the project, confirming the company’s commitment to its social responsibility towards the environment and the community. He said this partnership reflects Bahrain Credit’s ongoing efforts to raise environmental awareness among youth by helping provide a healthy and safe environment for their activities. He added that the company’s cooperation with the NIAD highlights its vision to contribute to sustainable development in Bahrain.

The project forms part of public-private cooperation to support sustainable afforestation initiatives and strengthen the role of youth centres as green and environmental spaces that enhance quality of life and environmental awareness among young people. It includes planting a variety of trees and plants designed to improve the surrounding environment and provide shaded areas suitable for recreational and community activities, in line with the initiative’s goal of integrating environmental considerations into youth and community facilities.
